Membrane Desolvation
Elemental Scientific supplies two membrane desolvation modules constructed from 2 fluoropolymer membranes. Membrane desolvation is required to remove the residual solvent exiting the Apex which has not been removed by Peltier desolvation.
Polyatomic ion interferences, such as oxides, hydrides and others may form when oxygen or hydrogen derived from water or other solvents combine with species present in the sample. In many cases these interferences limit the accuracy or precision of ICP-MS determinations.
Three models of membrane desolvator are available for the Apex:
ACM - Temperature stabilized Nafion® membrane
Spiro TMD - Heated PTFE Teflon® membrane
Each module is easily mounted to the exit port of the Apex Q or Apex HF. This feature allows the Apex to be used either with or without membrane desolvation to best suit specific analytical applications. |
