Manufacturing Engineer - Full-time

We are looking for a self-driven, motivated individual that is excited about configuring, executing and managing our new manufacturing facility! Responsibilities include the design and configuration several photonics manufacturing lines, management and maintenance of ERP, quality control, management of the build team, engineering liaison with an extensive engineering group, cost assessment, hands on build of photonics equipment and New Product Introduction design opportunities.

Focus/Objective
Manages, develops, implements and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture and fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and/or final assemblies by performing the following duties.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support a production line to achieve business metrics
  • Experience with quality control and failure analysis
  • Developing manufacturing requirements, conducting trade studies, developing prototype manufacturing solutions, executing design analysis/simulation, integrating prototypes, conducting verification/validation testing, debugging manufacturing failures, and deploying products to mass production
  • Experience with 3D design tools such as SolidWorks, Altium, or other CAD tools
  • Experience with ERP, PLM, PDM, ECO, and BOM tools and processes
  • Quantitative/analytic mindset to probe, test and decompose challenging system problems into root cause issues with strong, detail oriented skills to solve them
  • Improve Ergonomics, Quality, labor cost, Equipment downtime, tooling life, reduce changeover and setup time
  • Work with supervisors and engineering staff to determine manufacturing methods and design improvements
  • Input on machine design, vendor selection, equipment design reviews
  • Capability studies, DOE, Statistical analysis of product and process
  • Ability to provide concise, clear, and detailed training for manufacturing technicians
  • Ability to serve cross functional roles in a young and growing company
  • Work in a team environment to perform problem solving and root cause analysis
  • Lead continuous improvement projects aligned to lean manufacturing principles
  • Lead cost reductions and yield improvements with delivery partners
  • Utilize sound project management tools
  • Manage manufacturing team
  • Manage schedules and delivery cycles
  • Prefer candidates with some familiarity in cross functional design such as electrical engineering, electronics, mechanical engineering, photonics, software engineering, and other domains
  • Prefer candidates with experience working with contract manufacturers
  • Prefer candidates familiar with functional testing, reliability testing, and qualification of systems
  • Prefer candidates with international experience, particularly Europe and Asia

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, or engineering equivalent; or up to 5 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a equipment manufacturing environment, including lasers and photonics is preferred. New Product Introduction experience preferred. Working knowledge of industrial laser technologies including solid state, gas, and fiber lasers. Knowledge of industry-standard laser/optics instrumentation and measurements. Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control and Manufacturing Capability, DOE & JMP experience a plus. Experience with DFM/A, BOM structuring, Engineering and Manufacturing Change Orders, and Lean Manufacturing knowledge. Structured Problem Solving, CAPA, Continuous Improvement.

Software Engineer - C#

A leading manufacturer and developer of scientific instrumentation, is recruiting a Software Developer with 4+ years of .NET experience to join their team in support of various software projects. Candidates will be responsible for defining intuitive interfaces that are used by a wide variety of customers in the industry. Applicants must possess experience in system architectures that include both software and hardware.

Requirements:

  • Experience with application development using C# and .NET
  • Applicants must be able to work on multiple projects with other programmers and engineers
  • Applicants must be able to test and evaluate software/projects
  • Able to clearly document code and define software requirements
  • Applicants must be able to create and adhere to established programming structures
  • Work history should encompass projects that include Multi-threaded Application development, Object-orientated Design, I/O and device control, WPF, WCF
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field required
Pluses:
  • Experience with MFC and C++ libraries, data analysis, and embedded code
  • Understanding of MVVM and MVC patterns

Electronics Production Technician

General Position Description
An international leader in scientific instrumentation is looking for a team member who prides themselves on excellence, ambition and accuracy with details to fill a new position on our Production/Assembly Team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Electronic and small parts assembly
  • Build components based on circuit diagram specifications and bill of materials
  • Manufacture subassemblies to be used with larger systems
  • Perform quality control to verify components are within a specified tolerance
  • Maintain inventory
  • Document actions by completing production and quality forms as required
  • Cross-training in other production areas
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Electrical wiring experience
  • Experienced in surface mount soldering
  • Must be able to read and understand detailed circuit diagram and written specifications
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

Chemist – Semiconductor

Elemental Scientific, Inc. is looking to fill a Chemist – Semiconductor service and application support position for our office in Korea. Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field and ability to communicate (verbally and in written form) in English and Korean required. Must also have familiarity with ultratrace metals analysis and understanding of laboratory testing methods.

Job duties include the following:

  • Position is generally responsible for conducting service and application support for ICMPS analysis of semiconductor chemicals.
  • Develop applications testing methods to determine trace metal impurities in inorganic and organic compounds for semiconductor process chemicals.
  • Operate laboratory equipment, including ICPMS and ICP instrumentation.
  • Prepare samples for analysis and logs, tracks and processes samples.
  • Review or analyzing test results in order to locate inconsistencies or malfunctions.
  • Maintain supply of standard reagents and solutions.
  • Repair, maintain, and calibrate ICPMS automated sample introduction and analysis systems.
  • Provide Korea based support for service and applications development for Korean ICPMS users (verbal and written communications).
  • May require domestic and/or international travel, up to 20% of time.
